Daffron signs an agreement with TextPower, Inc.
TextPower specializes in integrating back office systems to create triggered short message service (SMS) text messages. With this new service, Daffron customers will
be able to send text messages from CIS to their consumers for a myriad of communication, include outage status, billing updates, holiday messages, and much more. This
new feature adds a powerful communication tool to your software suite that allows you to keep in contact with the latest up-to-the-minute information.
Increased Bandwidth
Daffron & Associates, Inc. is increasing its Internet bandwidth in March 2011 to four times the capacity of the current pipeline. This increase is in response to
the growth in Daffron's Application Service Provider (ASP) customers, hosted e-Business websites, and new services, such as email communication delivered from CISiXp.
Daffron has been hosting ASP and e-Business sites for 9 years and currently provides hosting to over 50 utilities.
Increased Backup Capacity
Connectria, a St. Louis-based managed hosting provider, has provided a secure and reliable disaster recovery site for Daffron since 2002. As the data center in Bowling
Green grows, so must the recovery site. Daffron is increasing the amount and the power of the server and network hardware that is hosted, as well as improving the backup
procedures. Network configuration will now be pushed to the site whenever changes are committed to the local devices.
Daffron Hosts Blood Drive
Daffron & Associates, Inc. hosted the local Red Cross blood drive in Bowling Green in February 2011. The severe weather in the winter months has caused a drop in
donations, and Daffron employees stepped up to help fill the gap. Special thanks go out to our staff for helping organize and gather donors.
Roosevelt County Realizes ROI with Real-Time Processing
Roosevelt County Electric Cooperative (RCEC) in Portales, New Mexico, is recognizing a greater return on their investment thanks to Daffron’s iXp software. With Materials
Management System (MMSiXp), they are realizing the full potential of automation, including real-time processing, which ultimately saves RCEC numerous man hours
in production work and eliminates the chance of errors from duplicate data entered by hand.
As part of Daffron’s initiative to increase communication with all of our customers, Carl Daffron, CEO, visited RCEC. He spoke with Rich Smith, Materials Manager at RCEC, to
discuss their day-to-day processes. “I really like the PO Expediting Report for tracking the backordered materials, and I can actually send that supplier his backorder list
before they are able to send one to me,” explains Rich. He also enjoys the ability to view and save a purchase order as a PDF document. “I send it in a PDF to the supplier,
general manager, accountant or whoever I want to see it.”
RCEC also implemented the MOBILEtrak materials management and barcoding system from ID Solutions. “This is eliminating a lot of physical entries and puts the material
tracking in real time,” states Rich. “The same thing applies to inventory. Previously, we wrote everything down and sometimes it was hard to make out what someone
else had written, so it definitely eliminates that problem. We also made out tags to put into the bins that we write the item name, the date, and the quantity whenever we do
inventory. Now we print out labels to put on those tags to save even more writing. It is very basic and extremely easy to learn and to teach someone how to use.”
Seamless integration with other vendors is the strength of Daffron’s ToolBoxiXp. It allows the utility to choose the best packages and use them in conjunction with
Daffron’s suite of applications without tedious double entry or manual data transfers. At RCEC the implementation of an inventory barcoding system and ToolBoxiXp is
allowing them to use the system flawlessly with MMSiXp.
“At Daffron, we are confident that our customers have access to the best solutions available. We need to make sure our customers are aware of the efficiency and functionality
that they have but may not be taking advantage of, yet.” emphasizes Carl.
